At Rough Draft, we believe creativity belongs to everyone. Too often, professional tools and spaces are out of reach—locked behind high costs, closed studios, or specialized training. Our vision is to change that. By building a vibrant, accessible makerspace in Oak Cliff, we’re creating a community where artistry, curiosity, and entrepreneurship can flourish side by side.
Founded by Katy Sensenig Schilthuis, owner of Mosaic Makers Collective, Rough Draft was launched in the fall of 2025 and will open its doors in the spring of 2026. Our mission is simple but powerful:
Equip people with professional-grade creative tools—spanning pottery, jewelry, leatherwork, bath & body, and paper & print.
Educate through hands-on workshops, mentorship, and business resources for both emerging and established makers.
Empower the Oak Cliff community by fostering connection, supporting small businesses, and making creativity a shared resource rather than a privilege.
Rough Draft is more than a makerspace. It’s a hub for learning, experimenting, and rewriting what’s possible—together.

From pottery and printmaking to candle pouring and jewelry, our hands-on workshops are designed for beginners and pros alike. Come solo, bring a friend, or book a private group — creativity is waiting.

Five professional-grade hubs — pottery, jewelry & metal, leatherwork, printmaking, and candles & bath — equipped with the tools you need to experiment, practice, and
bring big ideas to life.

Memberships made for makers: open workspace, mini studios, high-speed WiFi, coffee, and access to creative hubs. Whether you’re building a business or exploring your craft, Rough Draft is your creative community.
