At Rough Draft, we believe creativity belongs to everyone. Too often, professional tools and spaces are out of reach—locked behind high costs, closed studios, or specialized training. Our vision is to change that. By building a vibrant, accessible makerspace in South Dallas, we’re creating a community where artistry, curiosity, and entrepreneurship can flourish side by side.
Founded by Katy Sensenig Schilthuis, owner of Mosaic Makers Collective, Rough Draft was launched in the fall of 2025 and will open its doors in the spring of 2026. Our mission is simple but powerful:
Equip people with professional-grade creative tools—spanning pottery, jewelry, leatherwork, bath & body, and paper & print.
Educate through hands-on workshops, mentorship, and business resources for both emerging and established makers.
Empower the South Dallas community by fostering connection, supporting small businesses, and making creativity a shared resource rather than a privilege.
Rough Draft is more than a makerspace. It’s a hub for learning, experimenting, and rewriting what’s possible—together.
